LA DOLCE VITA: A Celebration of Life Through Words & Music with Carole Boyd (actress) and Lynda Chang (piano).

This indeed was a celebration of life through words and music. The RAC hall was crammed with an audience anticipating a memorable performance and they were not disappointed. Carole Boyd (Lynda Snell in BBC Radio 4’s The Archers) and Lynda Chang thrilled all with their skilful combination words and music on the subjects of Dogs, The Arts, Country Matters, Romance and the Jubilee.

Each brought their own unique talent to the performance. Carole Boyd’s versatile use of accents, dialects, pace, pitch and pausing mesmerised the audience, at times lulling them into a gentle interlude only to suddenly jolt them back again as superbly demonstrated with her recital of “Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett, immediately followed by Ruth Pitter’s “The Weed”.

Lynda Chang accompanied Carole on the piano so expertly that both Artists were as one. Lynda not only displayed her undoubted musical talent throughout the performance, but also her flair for comedic timing, demonstrated whilst playing Chopin’s Waltz during the introduction to the recital.
